On 30 April 2025, Jidu concluded his visit as a Visiting Ph.D. Researcher in Prof. Kenichi Soga’s group in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UC Berkeley. Prof. Soga kindly hosted a farewell dinner for Jidu with members of the group.
During the six-month visit, Jidu collaborated with colleagues in the group on several topics, including thermo-hydro-mechanical (THM) coupled MPM simulation, the imposition of complex boundary conditions in MPM, and the modeling of fresh concrete flow.
Jidu is sincerely grateful to Prof. Soga for hosting him and for his academic guidance, to Dr. Bodhinanda (Nanda) Chandra for many fruitful discussions and collaborations on MPM, and to Yanbin, Tianyu and others for their kind help with daily life in Berkeley.
It was a rewarding and memorable visit, and we look forward to reuniting again in the future.
